A German Hunting Hanger Mid-18th Century The curved blade (some old rust patination) with shallow fuller over each side to the double-edged point, the forte on each side etched with a standing figure of an armed Pandour labelled 'Vivat Pandur' and with a star above, a medallion below with a differing German inscription, brass-mounted hilt comprising side-guard cast, pierced and chased with rocailles, scrolled quillons and pommel-cap decorated en suite, the latter with tang button, and polished staghorn grip stained with brown fronds, in its leather scabbard (some wear, chape replaced) tooled with chevrons along both sides, brass locket chased with rocailles on the inside and with pockets for the by-knife and fork, each with polished staghorn grip (one split) with brass pommel-cap 38.7 cm. blade This lot is subject to the following lot symbols: * * VAT on imported items at a preferential rate of 5% on Hammer Price and the prevailing rate on Buyer's Premium.
