A Dutch silver two-handled brandy bowl Maker's mark a clover for Jan Sjoerds, Bolsward, date letter for 1639 Oval with two fleur-de-lys handles either side, with winged cherub mask supports below, on a spreading cast foot profusely decorated with winged cherubs' masks, strap work and fruit, below a narrow band of oval motifs forming the short stem, the sides engraved with panels of strap work, foliage and masks, 23cm wide, 11.5cm deep, 8.5cm high (9in wide, 4 1/2in deep, 3in high), weight 9.3 troy oz, weight 289.5gms. Footnotes: Provenance From the collection of the late Cornelis Paulus van Pauwvliet. J. M. Morpurgo, Amsterdam, where purchased probably 1993. Exhibited J. M. Morpurgo, PAN, Amsterdam, 1993.
