Late Period, 30th Dynasty, 380-343 BC. A complete wooden gesso-painted sarcophagus of female form housed in a custom-built Edwardian glazed wooden display case, depicting the deceased wearing a tripartite wig with long lappets, fleshy face with painted detailing, wide Broad Collar with falcon-headed terminals, each wearing a sun disk, a staff with shuti symbol to each side of the collar, a figure of Sobek beneath the staff; beneath the collar kneeling Nut with her wings spread, wearing the solar disk and holding a feather in each hand, Wedjat-eye standards on either side of the goddess; the leg area of Tetosiris coffin organised as a text apron of five columns with a formula of offering and the genealogy of the deceased, protected on both sides by the Four Sons of Horus, reading: 1. Words spoken by Osiris, foremost of the westerners, good god, lord of Rosetau 2. Isis the great, mother of the god, who resides in Akhmim and Nephtys, sister of the god. That they might give 3. an offering consisting of bread and beer, oxen and fowl, wine, milk, incense, cloth and all things 4. good and pure to the ka of the Osiris Tetosiris 5. daughter of Tutu, born of Lady Tasheritmin the sarcophagus resting on a rectangular base with a band of hieroglyphs, reading: front: 'A boon which the king gives to Osiris, foremost of the westerners, lord of [...]' left: 'Rosetau Osiris (?) make perfect (?) A set of four 20th century Limoges dinner plates, decorated with two bands of gilding flanking a broad band of gilt foliate decoration, outlined in red, containing a horse head crest, Limoges CMC (Maureil Chapeau et Charles) factory marks to base, 9¾in. (24.8cm.) diameter; together with a pair of white glazed chestnut or bread baskets, Continental, 20th century, of shallow oval form, on half round toes, impressed '985', 9½ x 6in. (24 x 16.5cm.), one rim a/f; together with a matching circular fruit bowl with waved foot rim, impressed '987', 5½in. (14cm.) high, glaze discoloured to well. (7)

An English porcelain part tea and coffee service 19th century, painted with landscape panels upon a broad turquoise ground, the service comprising two bread and butter plates, nine saucers, nine teacups and six coffee cups, unmarked (26)

Dated 2038 BC. A terracotta pillow-shaped tablet with impressed cuneiform text to both broad faces and one edge; the message deals with the issue of food to men leaving the town of Hurtum to visit the king, it lacks an official seal but bears a second text regarding a sworn oath; dated to Year 9 of King Amar-Suen (i.e. 2038 BC); text reads: '5 quarts of stew/porridge, 6 quarts of bread, when the men of Hurtum went from Hurtum to the king's place. Via Idi-Erra royal messenger. Because there was no seal (he swore) the oath by the king. Issued month shu-gar-gal Year (named) the year after the enpriestess of Eridu was selected.' 24 grams, 40mm (1 1/2"). From the property of a London gentleman; formerly in a London, UK collection, acquired before 1992; accompanied by an old academic identification and translation sheet (B"). 'Simon' (Paleo-Hebrew), tetrastyle façade of the Temple of Jerusalem; show bread table or Ark of the Covenant in chest form with semicircular lid and short legs, seen from a narrow side; above façade, cross. Rev. 'Year two of the freedom of Israel' (Paleo-Hebrew), lulav with etrog at left. Hendin 1387a; Mildenberg 17 (O4/R11); TJC 230. Boldly struck on a nice broad flan. Toned. Extremely Fine. From the Palm Desert Collection. Ex Superior (14 December 1987), Dr. Feori Pipito Coll., 584. The obverse of this year 2 sela issue depicts the Jerusalem Temple but now features a + shape above the façade whereas this space was taken up by part of the paleo-Hebrew legend on the issues of the first year of the Bar Kokhba War. There is a great deal of controversy over whether this added symbol was intended to depict a star and advertise Simon bar Kokhba's supposed messianic ambitions. The patronymic of the rebel leader was actually bar Kosiba but he assumed the name bar Kokhba (literally "son of a star") as his nom de guerre because of its association with the messianic prophecy of Numbers 24:17.
