Blunden, 1650. *** The Gathorne-Hardy-Col. C.H. Wilkinson- Bent Juel-Jensen-Robert Ball copy of one of the great poetry rarities. 'Vaughan's finest poetry was published in this rare volume' (Hayward). Vaughan's work was rediscovered by Wordsworth at the end of the eighteenth century. The inclusion of 'Silurist' after the author's name on title alludes to his home county of Brecknockshire, which had been the place of the ancient British tribe of the Silures. Since 1989 only three copies have appeared at auction: the Houghton-Garden-Pirie copy (sold Pirie sale 2015, $100,000); the Bradley Martin copy (1990, $45,000 hammer, apparently badly wormed); and the John Heugh-Elkin Mathews-Everard Meynell copy (2017, having not been offered at auction since 1959; lacking A1). Provenance: Galthorne-Hardy (pencil inscription dated 1953 to front pastedown); Col. C.H. With two part wooden grip, numbered E R 455. In leather and steel scabbard, the rarer MK II scabbard with double seem construction. 58 cm overall. *CR A nice example in good condition with only light marking and scuffing.

An 1897 Pattern Infantry Officers sword with an 82 cm pointed un-sharpened blade with deep fuller and all-over scrolling foliate decoration. Marked to the ricasso 'Wilkinson Sword C Ltd London'. With a three-quarter basket hilt with turned down inner edge and pierced scrolling decoration and George V monogram. With service scabbard and leather sword knot. 102 cm overall. Numbered indistinctly to the back of the blade,probably 61120 which would give a date of 1927 for this sword. *CR Rust to blade, losses and cracking to leather scabbard.

1821 Pattern light cavalry officer's sword by Henry Wilkinson of Pall Mall, three bar hit with wire bound shagreen handle, in its steel scabbard. The blade profusely engraved for the 4th Queen's Own Light Dragoons, a stag above the regimental title, with foliate and scroll work and a radiant crown. Initials "JCW" in a cartouche within a six pointed star at the base. The blade, 90 cm in length, double edged at its tip. The scabbard stamped H10. Overall length in scabbard 106cm.

A Victorian Silver Christening-Mug, by Henry Wilkinson and Co., Sheffield, 1853 tapering and on spreading foot, the sides stamped with foliage scrolls centring a vacant cartouche on each side, with leaf-capped scroll handle10.5cm high, 4oz 6dwt, 133grFully marked near rim. There is some wear to the marks but in general each is still legible. There is some surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. The wear is noticeable as a softening of the high points, some of which are worn through. There is no obviously sign of erasure but it is possible that there has been an erasure.
