1882 Top Pop Queen Victoria Heaton Mint bronze Farthing graded MS 65 RD by NGC (S 3959). Obverse: 'Bun Head' bust by Leonard Charles Wyon, facing left with 'VICTORIA D: G: BRITT: REG: F: D:' around. Reverse: 'FARTHING' above seated Britannia with a trident, shield, lighthouse and ship, the year (1882) below and beneath that a tiny 'H' for the Heaton and Sons. Edge: plain. Diameter: 20mm. Mintage: 1,792,000. Grade: MS 65 RD shared top of the NGC population. Sealed in an NGC holder with a standard brown label (#2910695-012). This Farthing was produced by Heaton and Sons, a firm later known as the Birmingham Mint. Ralph Heaton II founded this prolific privately owned mint struck coinage for various territories across the expanding British Empire, initially using coining equipment purchased from Matthew Boulton's defunct Soho Mint. From 1874, the Royal Mint, experiencing high demand, outsourced the minting of domestic copper coinage, including Pennies, Halfpennies and Farthings to Heaton. These coins bear a tiny 'H' mintmark below the date to indicate their origins.

Packaging: sealed in NGC holder.From 1874, the Royal Mint, experiencing high demand, outsourced the minting of some domestic copper coinage, including Pennies, Halfpennies and Farthings, to Heaton and Sons, a firm later known as the Birmingham Mint. In 1882, the Heaton mint produced 7,526,000 Pennies with a tiny 'H' below the date on the reverse. An unknown number of 1882-dated Pennies, this example included, were produced concurrently at the Royal Mint in London. The latter coins lack the 'H' mintmark.'No H' 1882 Pennies are a true rarity, graded R17 by Freeman in his definitive guide to British bronze coinage, suggesting 16-50 known examples. Four examples appeared in NGC's registry at the time of writing, including an example graded MS 64 BN that sold in 2021 for an astonishing £37,200, including premium.Modified 1882 Pennies without the 'H' are known with the letter artificially removed. This example has the benefit of being assessed and graded by NGC as a genuine example and is offered sealed in its holder with a standard brown label.

Diameter: 30.9mm. Mintage: 6,088,000. Grade: GEF - Good Extremely Fine with some mint lustre remaining to the reverse.

1826 George IV copper Halfpenny with impressive misstrike error with around 20% double struck (S 3824). Obverse: laureate bust facing left with face covered by over-strike, which shows the back of the portrait's neck., date below (1826) and legend around, 'GEORGIUS DEI GRATIA', half covered by the error. Reverse: Britannia seated right with shield and trident, national flowers below, flowers and shield duplicated along with the first part of the legend: 'BRITANNIAR: REX FID: DEF:'. Weight: 9.12g. Diameter: 30.9mm (measured at the widest point). Grade: F-VF - Fine to Very Fine details, a clear and eye-catching example of a mint error with a few unusual dot indentations along the overstrike edges.
