English School (19th Century)Interior scene with figure, fishing rod and large staved bathOil on canvas, 22cm by 28.5cmLined, fairly stiff but good tension over a strainer, original tacking margins present. Brittle age and impact cracking throughout, not elevated and secure. Varnish has powdered/whitened slightly over some of the cracks. A few tiny unrestored losses. There has been some abrasion in the delicate dark layers primarily in the lower part of the picture - in the drapery, around the foot, the floor and around the basket. There has been some strenghtening overpaint (see images). Even glossy varnish, not appreciably yellowed, light layer of surface dust and accretions.

The walnut stock with deep diamond cut grip and brass butt plate. 109 cm with bayonet extended. 79 cm. *CR A fine gun in apparently good condition, action functions correctly.

With twin sling mounting points. 124 cm overall. *CR Appears to function correctly, some scuffing and marking but apparently original colour and finish. The walnut stock with indistinct roundel marking and others. With leather sling. 126 cm overall. On a recent home made stand. *CR A very nice example in good condition with numerous clear markings.
