A WILLIAM AND MARY WALNUT STOOL POSSIBLY BY THOMAS ROBERTS, CIRCA 1700 The rectangular seat upholstered in stamped green velvet with knotted bullion trim, on scrolled and square section supports joined by shaped, arched and scroll-carved stretchers, with knuckled and turned feet 41cm high, 52cm wide, 37cm deep A giltwood stool from Hampton Court Palace attributed to Thomas Roberts and with the same leg pattern is illustrated in P. Macquoid, Dictionary of English Furniture, rev. ed., 1953, vol. III, p. 173, fig.30. Roberts (d.1714) was the main supplier of bed frames and seat furniture to the Royal Household from 1686, serving three monarchs, and he has become synonymous with the style of seat furniture that became fashionable in this period, particularly the so-called `horsebone' legs and stretchers while his accounts in the 1790s reveal many references to `French tables' and `French beds'. He fulfilled many Royal commissions, for Whitehall, Kensington, Hampton Court and Windsor, and for houses including Knole, Chatsworth and Houghton Hall. Another related stool with distinctive, though not uncommon arched fore-rails, is illustrated in A. Bowett, English Furniture 1660 - 1714, 2002, p.250, pl.8.40. He notes many references in Roberts' accounts between 1700-1710 to seat furniture featuring `arched railes'. Condition Report: Overall there are some scratches, marks, chips, cracks and abrasions consistent with age and use. There is evidence of old worm. There are some losses and repairs including the corner blocks and fillers. The seat rails could be of a later date. The upholstery and tassell fringed border with signs of age, with one watermark/stain to the centre of the stool seat. Please see all the additional condition report photographs through the link on the condition report email as a visual reference of condition. Condition Report Disclaimer

Since 1989 only three copies have appeared at auction: the Houghton-Garden-Pirie copy (sold Pirie sale 2015, $100,000); the Bradley Martin copy (1990, $45,000 hammer, apparently badly wormed); and the John Heugh-Elkin Mathews-Everard Meynell copy (2017, having not been offered at auction since 1959; lacking A1). Provenance: Galthorne-Hardy (pencil inscription dated 1953 to front pastedown); Col. Dalziel Brothers. Dalziel's Bible Gallery, number 335 of 1000 copies, 62 mounted india paper proofs of wood-engravings by the Dalziel Brothers after Leighton, Solomon, Sandys, Houghton, Watts, Burne Jones, Holman Hunt & others, mounted on stubs, occasional spotting to mounts, Forrest Reid's copy with his ink signature to front free endpaper, original half vellum, a little rubbed and soiled, folio, 1881.*** Forrest Reid (1875-1947), Irish novelist and critic, author of Illustrators of the Sixties of 1928, the definitive work on Victorian wood-engraving: "The Bible Gallery is the most sumptuous of all our books. It was issued in an edition of 1000 copies, with the designs carefully printed on India paper. But the price - five guineas - proved too high; commercially the work was a failure, only some 200 copies being sold. The original idea, when the artists were commissioned to make their drawings, was to print the text also; but this plan was abandoned, and the huge folio contains the designs alone." p.49.

Lauriat was an experienced traveler, but the last voyage of the Lusitania was his first on the Cunarder. He was on a business trip, traveling with fellow Bostonian Lothrop Withington. Lauriat’s cabin was B-5 and his ticket was 1297. When the Lusitania was sinking, Lauriat attempted to assist Elbert and Alice Hubbard. Lauriat entered lifeboat 7 but jumped out when the lifeboat could not be freed from the mother ship. Lauriat was saved by the Wanderer (Peel 12) and Flying Fish. He led a survivors’ mutiny against the crew of the Flying Fish when the captain of the rescue vessel would not allow the survivors to disembark without clearance from the authorities.

The Ferrari 550 Maranello is a two-seat grand tourer manufactured from 1996 through to 2001 and is powered by a front-engined V12. It shared its platform and 5,474cc engine with the 456 but was positioned as the company's high-end model. The car used a transaxle layout with the six-speed manual gearbox located at the back, in-line with the driven wheels. It featured a luxurious and spacious interior and, unusually for a Ferrari, the boot could accommodate a set of golf clubs. The 550 has a tubular steel frame chassis with light, aluminium bodywork. The Ferrari 550 has enjoyed a great amount of success on the racing circuits, often in collaboration with Prodrive. Ferrari sent a slightly 'souped-up' version to an oval test track in Columbus, Ohio and set three new world records as follows:Covering 100 miles at an average speed of 190.2mph.Driving for one hour at an average speed of 184mph.Covering 100 kilometres at 188.9mph.To celebrate these records, Ferrari built 33 road cars to the exact specification of the record setting car. The differences over the standard car are the Fiorano handling pack, leather trimmed roll cage, suede covered steering wheel and carbon bucket seats with Daytona stitching and race harnesses. Other changes included the Scuderia wing shields, sports exhaust, brake callipers in Rosso, Bordeaux carpets and a WSR plaque.Supplied in the UK by Maranello Concessionaires and distributed by Ferrari agents Mortimer, Houghton and Turner to first owner, Chairman of Listers Group, Terry Lister, on 5th May 2000. Kept by the well-known automotive giant with fastidious care during his tenure supplying to original dealer Mortimer, Houghton and Turner in February 2003 for a cambelt change and service at 12,409 miles. In 2005, the car benefitted from service and maintenance work at Graypaul Ferrari with an invoice totalling some £13,000, prior to entering long-term single ownership with a collector in Ireland which spanned 2009 – 2016. In 2017 the car was then bought back to the UK to be sold and received a further service, full inspection and cambelt change at 33,844 miles by Ferrari specialist Keys Motorsport Silverstone in February of that year. Within the full report commissioned by the purchaser by Keys Motorsport it is detailed that the car handled well upon a full test and that the customer had requested the suspension ECU was disconnected due to the actuators and accelerometer logging a fault, this controls the adjustment of the ride height we are informed over 150 mph and although not effecting the day to day handling of the car, naturally should you wish this would need to be reconnected.Acquired by our vendor in 2017 this 550 WSR has covered just 106 miles in his ownership, purchased as a collector car and professionally stored from 2017 to 2023. In August 2023, Autostore Europe Ltd of Cambridge performed a timing belt service alongside other tasks with an invoice for £3,704 and of late has been fully detailed.Given that this car has spent much of the past 20 years professionally stored as part of Ferrari collections we would suggest the suspension ECU and new tyres should be factored into future spend should you wish to test the limits of this rare limited numbers example but due to the rarity of the right hand drive Ferrari 550 World Speed Record Edition you may wish to tuck it away and watch prices inevitably rise.It is believed just three WSR’s remain in the UK, this example is most definitely an investment opportunity and one for the serious Ferrari collectors. Accompanied by a Ferrari wallet and full set of manuals, this represents an opportunity to acquire a highly original, low-mileage example of one of the most exclusive road-legal Ferrari grand tourers of all times, an example we sit alongside those cars that could potentially ‘double your investment’ and a car which has already been justifiably elevated to be considered one of Maranello greats. The Scaglietti 2+2 Coupé was penned by Frank Stephenson under Ken Okuyama at Pininfarina, and it is said that the design, especially the strident side scallops and headlights, were a nod to the coachbuilt 1954 375 MM that film director, Roberto Rossellini, had commissioned for his wife Ingrid Bergman. The newcomer replaced the outgoing 456 but, being physically larger, was a genuine four-seat Grand Tourer. It was Ferrari's second all-aluminium vehicle and comprised of a spaceframe manufactured in conjunction with Alcoa, that was a combination of extrusions and castings to which the body was then welded. The same chassis formed the basis of Ferrari's 599 GTB flagship Grand Tourer. The front, mid-mounted, V12 powerplant was shared with the 575 Superamerica and was not six litres as the name suggests but 5.7, though big enough for a healthy power output of 533bhp and equally impressive performance figures, including a 0-62mph time of 4.2 seconds and a top speed north of the magic 200mph. Guitar legend, Eric Clapton, owned a similar model as did many other Ferrari collectors who recognised its understated styling and powerful performance. This excellent 2005 Ferrari 612 Scaglietti has only covered 43,663Km, that equates to just over 27,300 miles from new. Finished in silver with beige leather interior this 612 was supplied new in Kuwait with aluminium brake calipers, matching beige leather dashboard and Scuderia shields on the front wings. The current owner purchased the car in February 2018. On 3rd June 2020 at 43,328km it was taken to Red Mist Sportscars where it was serviced, new cambelts fitted and had a new alternator. The last work carried out was on the 19th March 2021 when the car was taken to Meridien Modena in Hampshire at 43,382km who fitted a new body ECU, while in the current ownership he has driven less than 400 miles. This Ferrari 612 is supplied with a V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in August 2024, the complete handbook pack and file containing all the invoices from Ferrari Kuwait. 2002 FERRARI 360 MODENA F1 Registration Number: F1 ALD Chassis Number: ZFFYR51C000130696 Recorded Mileage: 44,000 miles - Full dealer/specialist service history - Offered with all books and tools Ferrari’s most successful model since the 308, the F355 was always going to be a tough act to follow. Its successor needed to be ground breaking and revolutionary; two words which, without doubt the 360 lived up to. Starting with a clean sheet of paper in designing the 360 Modena, the new car attracted superlatives that put even its illustrious predecessor in the shade. Just about the only item carried over from the F355 was its glorious V8 engine, enlarged from 3.5 to 3.6 litres for the 360, producing 400bhp. In every other respect the 360 was entirely new, the most striking break with Ferrari tradition being the body’s frontal treatment; gone was the omnipresent oval grille, replaced by two separate intakes set low into the front wings. A larger car than the F355, the 360 owed its radical new shape to the quest for increased downforce, generating four times as much as its predecessor yet achieving the impressively low Cd of 0.33. There was further innovation beneath the skin: a lighter, stiffer aluminium space frame monocoque replacing the old tubular steel arrangement, resulting in a dry weight around 220lbs less than that of the F355. The 360’s on-the-road dynamics constituted a significant advance, its best time around Ferrari’s Fiorano test track being some three seconds faster than the F355’s. Finished in the classic Ferrari colour scheme of Rosso Corsa with a cream leather interior, this 360 Modena F1 coupe was first registered in November 2002. Over the intervening years the 360 has been maintained either by Ferrari dealers or specialists, with services at 4,906 miles (Stratstone), 8,831 miles (Stratstone, inc. belts), 14,706 miles (Graypaul), 19,139 miles (Graypaul), 25,378 miles (Reeder, inc. belts and clutch), 27,822 miles (Reeder), 30,990 miles (Reeder), 31,957 miles (Reeder), 32,862 miles (Independent), 35,067 miles (Independent), 35,489 miles (Independent), 38253 (Independent), and 42,129 miles (Bob Houghton, inc. belts). We understand the Ferrari was formerly subject to an insurance claim (marked as a Category D) which the vendor believes was as a result of minor damage to the front bumper and wing, professionally repaired at the time. Very well maintained, this sensibly estimated Ferrari is offered with all books and leather wallet, receipts and original tools.

BANKSY (b.1974) "Special Sauce, Custom-Made Corsetry", hand-painted acrylic to both sides of an A-Frame advertising board, 123 x 62cms.Provenance: Emma Houghton, close friend and collaborator of Banksy throughout the 1990s. Houghton had a bespoke corsetry shop at BS8, on Park Street, Bristol, and Banksy designed this board for outside the shop door.Exhibition: The Art of Banksy: Unauthorised, Manchester, October 2022- January 2023. The Art of Banksy: Unauthorised, Regent Street London, January 2024-February 2024.LETTER OF PROVENANCE:In reference to the provenance of the birthday cards, flyers and shop sign, I met ‘Banksy’ in 1992, through mutual friends. We were friends throughout our 20’s, during the politically charged, hedonistic and creatively potent era of the 1990’s and early 2000’s. In the DIY ethos of the time, we set our own agenda; we worked, played, protested, travelled and established our independent professions, following our own unique course. His work-ethic, humour and moral stance were powerful even then. The birthday cards were given to me by the artist over four consecutive years depicting his evolution from Robin, in a cuter pencil drawn cartoon style to Mr Banks and finally with the edgy stencilled wit, characteristic of Banksy. The flyers were designed by the artist and hand screen printed by him and myself to promote a club night put on by our sound system the Babble Collective in the mid 90’s. Most were cut apart and distributed for advertising, now collected world wide, but I gave this un cut sheet to a family member who unearthed them years later. The A board was commissioned for my corsetry business, to advertise my first shop in BS8 on Park Street in Bristol, I like to think she was me in my prime. To watch Banksy’s career grow meteorically from its roots to become this national treasure has been incredible – not least due to the privately held knowledge of these works existence. Deciding to share them with the public through The Art of Banksy exhibition has allowed fans and followers to see this charming and sentimental side that is less of the known Banksy brand of today. Putting them up for auction is intended to allow others to fully appreciate their unique beauty in this current time. These details and my identity have been shared to avoid speculation, to better establish authenticity and provenance of the pieces. It must be noted that there is no dirt to dish on the artist. That there is no axe to grind, nor will I disclose or confirm Banksy’s identity. I have had little to no contact with him in the last 20 years.

They borrowed as much money as they could from friends and relatives and invested in a small second-hand sound system. By 1994 babble had become a firm favourite with an enthusiastic Leicester crowd, and over the next few years the collective staged sell out nights at (amongst other places) the Mud Club, Luxor (now Industria) and the Fan Club, and all-night events at Starlite 2001.
