Birmingham proof marks. The rifle is stamped with the Braendlin Armoury crossed lances over B mark. The original company was dissolved in 1889 so this carbine was probably made under the unincorporated successor company run by one of the Greeners. UK FIREARMS CERTIFICATE WITH .303 RIFLE VARIATION OR RFD REQUIRED. 102cm long The rifle is in nice presentable condition with lots of signs of age and use. The bore is quite worn and the rifling is thin, especially around the throat area. It improves towards the muzzle but it will probably need a cast lead bullets slightly oversized in order to shoot with any accuracy. The metalwork has most of its finish remaining but it is starting to fade in places and there is some light brown colouration. Some areas such as the bands and the magazine have some pitting. The action works correctly as does the safety, there is a light primer pocket mark to the bolt face. The stock is free from splits and repairs. There are lots of dents and marks but nothing defacing.
