Vivienne Westwood London Harris Tweed Jacket, Vive La Cocotte Collection 1995-6, in yellow tattersall check the jacket with wide collar and lapels, cut away to the front, padded shoulders with darts, long sleeves with turn back cuffs, three inverted pleats to the reverse with orb impressed buttons, pink silk lining, stitched fabric labels to the lining of Vivienne and for Harris Tweed, gold label (size 12), Matching Yellow Checked Waistcoat, with shaped wide lapels, double button fastening to the front incorporating amber coloured orb impressed oval buttons, open back to the reverse with internal corset, gold label (size 12), together with a copy of the receipt Vivienne Westwood St Mary’s Street Manchester, dated 22 July 1996 Private Collection of Vivienne Westwood Costume The vendor was a punk in her youth and therefore was familiar with 430 Kings Road London the shop that Westwood and Mclaren established in 1971, showcasing their ‘clothes without rules’ by deconstructing traditional techniques and using them to promote their political beliefs. This love for Vivienne Westwoods tailoring and use of fabrics continued throughout her life. On the 15th June 1996 an bomb exploded in the centre of Manchester, carried out by the Irish Republican Army. This devastated the infrastructure around the area including the Arndale Shopping Centre, amazingly there were no fatalities however hundreds were injured and the cost of rebuilding ran into billions of pounds.The Vivienne Westwood shop in the locality was damaged during this and was relocated to near Deansgate. Vivienne sent up from London items off the catwalk and old stock to be sold at discounted price. The vendor as a Manchester resident was a regular visitor, and you can see picked up some fabulous purchases, some have never been worn and have been packed up for over 25 years. The waistcoat has had extra fabric let in to the seams near the back of the waistcoat, the vendor is a dressmaker and has just opened up the original seam, so it can be easily put back again. Stitched repair to the halterneck seam at the back. Other wise very slight rubbing and wear to the jacket and waistcoat, and a few tiny light brown spot marks. - see extra images.

From the personal collection of Vivian Stanshall, founding member of the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band, two composite lady's legs, as used as stage props, the largest 72 cm, the wooden staff that he was often seen with in later life, a group of prosthetic noses, as used and worn by Dawn French in the Ruddles Beer advertisement, a collection of darts and flights, to include Vivian's home-made 'dart sights', a horse hair fly whisk, a ginger beard and moustache, a painted maraca (by Vivian, a satirical 1970s T-shirt depicting Bonzo Dog and a skit on the famous Pepsi advertising slogan, a souvenir tea towel from the Martin Carthy and Dave Swarbrick tour dates from 1991, designed by Vivian, a vintage Bell Telephone and a boxed Hohner Cross Harp. The Lone Ranger wore his shirt throughout the series as he dispensed justice to outlaws.This light gray shirt made of a wool-blend fabric has a lace-up, V-neck front, cuff buttons, contrasting frontier-style piping trim, and two darts per side. The interior of the shirt features a Western Costume Co. maker's stamp on the collar, as well as a label for "Clayton Moore," "NO. 1C-2066-1," and "Chest 43" at the front bottom.
