Chopard - A steel and gold coloured diamond set 'Happy Sport' wristwatch, circa 1995, model number 27/8246-23/11, serial number 400167, blue dial with 5 'floating' round brilliant cut diamonds totalling 0.15ct, quatre Roman numerals, gold coloured hands and centre sweep, tandem signed 7 jewel quartz ETA movement, the crown with cabochon sapphire end stone, case, 26mm diameter, gold coloured bezel with 28 round brilliant cut diamonds totalling 1.12ct, each lug end terminating in a cabochon sapphire, to a blue strap with gilt pin buckle, presented in the original case with outer card box, dealer's directory, guarantee and certificate of origin dated 21/12/1995 The most innovative watch design of 1976 came from Ronald Kurowski, a designer at Chopard. While on holiday, he saw a waterfall with water droplets sparkling in the sunshine. It inspired him to design a watch featuring diamonds freely moving between dial, bezel and sapphire crystal. Each diamond is set in a handmade white gold tube. The tube protrudes a few millimetres above the diamond's surface, so the smooth edges glide against the underside of the watch crystal without scratching. The slightest finger tap on the case causes the diamonds to move; this "tap test" remains the definitive test of authentic "Happy Diamonds".
