A FRENCH LACQUERED-BRASS CARRIAGE CLOCK WITH PUSH-BUTTON REPEAT LATE 19TH CENTURY The eight-day gong-striking movement with silvered platform lever escapement and backplate stamped with initials C.V. to centre over serial number 26662 to lower left hand corner, with circular white enamel Arabic numeral dial with blued steel hands within a rectangular gilt mask, the bevel-glazed case with scroll-turned S-scroll handle over part-fluted pilasters to angles. 16.5cm high with handle down Condition Report: The movement is in clean working condition and appears all-original; the silvering to the escapement platform has some slight tarnishing. The dial is free from any visible dage. The case has some slight patchy oxidation/discolouration to the finish and a very shallow chip to the inside of the front glass (to the lower left hand corner) otherwise case is in fine condition with no other visible faults to the glasses. Clock comes with a non-original morocco leather case which has slight bumps, scuffs edge wear etc. and the lid is a little distorted on the hinges hence will not close properly.
