Gold 5 pounds (crown), 2004. Royal Mint. Proof.
Commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Entente Cordiale between Britain and France, a colonial-era agreement signed by the British Foreign Secretary, Lord Lansdowne, and the French Ambassador, Paul Cambon, in London on 8 April 1904. It represented a shift from historic conflict to cooperation and brought the countries together in the lead up to World War I.
Fourth crowned head of Elizabeth II facing right; 'FIVE POUNDS' below; ELIZABETH · II D · G · REG · F · D around. Design by Ian Rank-Broadley. / Combined figures of Britannia and Marianne, the female personifications of Great Britain and France; 'ENTENTE CORDIALE' and anniversary dates '1904' and '2004' around. Design by David Gentleman. Edge milled.
