An 1822 Pattern East India Company General Officer's Sword By Prosser, Manufacturer To The King, Charing Cross, London, Early 19th Century With bright slightly curved pipe-back blade double-edged at the spear point, the forte etched along both sides with maker's details, crossed sword and scabbard within a laurel wreath, and crowned martial trophy centred on the Company crest, ormolu hilt retaining traces of gilding and incorporating a crowned crossed sword and scabbard within a wreath, and wire-bound fishskin-covered grip (minor loss of fishskin beneath the pommel), in original steel scabbard (old surface rust patination) with two rings for suspension 87 cm. blade Footnotes: Provenance Bonhams Oxford, The Gary Bates Collection...
