A Composite German Three-Quarter Armour Late 16th Century Blackened overall and comprising gorget of three plates front and rear held together by a rivet and secured by a pin and keyhole catch, the front-plate with low medial ridge, and top plates each with bold turn, shot-proof breast-plate with bold turns at the necks and arms, medial ridge drawn-out to a point above a short flared skirt carrying two hinged pillars for the tassets, the latter each of nine upward-lapping lames (top-plate of the left tasset missing), detachable at the fourth lame above the knee and originally secured by a keyhole catch, and poleyns with rounded fluted side-wings, back-plate shaped to the back and with turned borders, spaudlers each of six downward-lapping lames, the bottom lame with turned edge and now riveted to an elbow-length mitten gauntlet, each gauntlet with cuff of two plates riveted together and with turned upper border, metacarpal and finger plates of six and four articulated plates respectively, embossed and roped knuckle-plates, and hinged thumb-defences of four plates each (one missing three plates, old surface patination overall) For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com For further information about this lot please visit the lot listing
