A 12-bore side-opening bar-in-wood sidelock hammer gun by G. Jeffreys, no. 201 Incorporating G. Jeffries' side-opening patent no. 3300 of 1862, the action-body and fore-end irons with foliate-scroll engraving, hammers of hares-ear form, the refinished stock with horn butt-plate, the damascus barrels (loose on the action and with a couple of dents) with gas-vents and game-rib engraved 'George Jeffries, Norwich, Patent No. 201' Weight 6lb. 11½oz., 28in. barrels, Cyl. & Cyl. chokes, 2½in. chambers, London Black Powder proof (both barrels out of proof, right and left barrel-thicknesses at 15 & 12 thou. respectively) With its proof exemption certificate (2) Footnotes: For more information on George Jeffries' side-opening patent no. 3300 of 1862, see I.M.
