A Fine Pair Of 32-Bore Flintlock Duelling Pistols By Samuel Henry Staudenmeyer, London, No. 1087, Circa 1810 With rebrowned twist octagonal sighted barrels, patent breeches each with oval gold-lined maker's stamp between gold lines, platinum-lined touch-holes, tangs finely engraved with martial trophies and foliage, and each incorporating a back-sight, signed border engraved flat bevelled detented locks each engraved with a starburst behind the semi-rainproof pan and with martial trophies at the stepped tail, engraved cocks, safety-catches (one an old replacement), and blued steel-springs with rollers, figured half-stocks with chequered rounded butts, blued steel spur trigger-guards (one refinished) each with pineapple finial and engraved with a martial trophy within foliate borders on the bow, vacant silver escutcheons and barrel-bolt escutcheons, horn fore-end caps, original horn-tipped ramrods, and some original finish, London proof marks (2) 25.4 cm. barrels Footnotes: Provenance The Dr. Shaun Brown Collection sold in these Rooms, 24 April 2013, lot 460 Samuel Henry Staudenmeyer, former workman of John Manton, was gunmaker to the Prince of Wales and the Duke of York.
