A matched set of four Dutch silver candlesticks Maker's mark possibly for Siewert van Tongerloo, or Steven des Rousseaux, Amsterdam, two 1708, one 1711, one later and unmarked Each with broad knopped baluster form columns, with petalled embellishments to the lower section of the sconces and lower stem, broad disc knop and welled section below, the stepped square bases with cut corners, 11.5cm wide, 11.5cm deep, 18cm high, (4 1/2in wide, 4 1/2in deep, 7in high), weight total of all: 59.7 troy oz, weight total of all: 1856.9gms. (4) Footnotes: Maker's mark for Siewert van Tongerloo, see Citroen 1174, page 227. The unmarked example, client paperwork states this later example was made in 1994 by Jan van Nouhuys in Schoonhoven. Provenance From the collection of the late Cornelis Paulus van Pauwvliet. The 1708 pair possibly A. Aardewerk, Amsterdam, 1985.
