An 1822 Pattern East India Company Infantry Officer's Presentation Sword By E. & W. Bond, 45 Cornhill, London, Dated 1833 With curved pipe-back blade (some wear and pitting) with double-edged quill point, etched over most of its length along one side with maker's details in a shield, foliate scrollwork and the crest of the East India Company within a wreath, and along the other with presentation inscription 'Charles Frederick North, Cadet. This Sword Presented to him at the Public Examination on the 11th June 1833 by the Honb.le Court of Directors of the Honourable East India Comp.ny as a Mark of the Court's Approbation of his General Good Conduct while in the Comp.ny's Military Seminary.', ormolu hilt (some wear to gilding) incorporating pierced company crest within an oval, folding inner-guard, and wire-bound fishskin-covered grip; together with another 1822 pattern East India Company infantry officer's sword, by Wilkinson, Gun & Sword Maker, Pall Mall, London, mid-19th century (blade polished bright and with light pitting, gilding worn, scabbard worn and incomplete) (2) 81.5 cm. and 80.7 cm. blades Footnotes: Edward & William Bond are recorded at 45 Cornhill, London between 1826 and 1855 For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com For further information about this lot please visit the lot listing
