A VERY LARGE BRONZE VASE, GU Qing Dynasty The globular mid-section decorated with kui dragons separated by vertical flanges, raised on a spreading foot with flanged taotie mask panels, below a trumpet neck encircled by four upright lappets, the base with a six character seal mark reading Da Zhou .. hua gu. 47cm (18 1/2in) high Footnotes: ęø… 銅花觚 ć€Šå¤§å‘Øå£å£čŠ±č§šć€‹ę¬¾ Although the vase derives from the archaic ritual wine vessel gu, the inscription to the base of the present piece designates its use in floral display, thereby explaining why the form has been adapted from the traditional shape with a wider mouth to better accommodate a floral bouquet.
