A 35-Bore Percussion Duelling Pistol By W. Child, 280 Strand, London, Circa 1840 With octagonal sighted barrel signed in full (worn) along the top flat forward of the breech with two platinum lines and platinum plug, foliate engraved tang with back-sight, border engraved detented lock signed in capitals and decorated with foliage, dolphin hammer en suite, figured half-stock with horn fore-end cap and chequered rounded butt (pommel with minor circular repair), steel trigger-guard with pineapple finial and decorated en suite with the lock on the bow, silver escutcheon and barrel-bolt escutcheons, the former engraved with later owner's initials 'F.H.', adjustable set trigger, and horn-tipped ramrod, probably original, London proof marks 23.5 cm. barrel Footnotes: William Child is recorded at 280 Strand, London between 1826 and 1850 For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com For further information about this lot please visit the lot listing
